Bill Clinton’s Presidency: January 20, 1993 – January 20, 2001
During the 90’s Bill was a huge hit among the urban communities… I should know, I was a teenager during the time we all were hypnotized by this white man who went on Arsenio Hall Show in sunglasses and rocked a saxophone. This clip was played over and over again… every time Bill Clinton was brought up, this visual appears to condition us to associate Bill Clinton as someone who understands black people.
We didn’t have social media back then… so we got whatever they gave us.
They gave us a president who “cares” about our communities and the crimes that’s happening around the country.
During Bill Clinton’s presidency, as crime rates drop, incarceration rate skyrocketed. So if violent and property crimes are going down, who are they locking up in prison? Super Predators! I would’ve thought those committing all the violent crimes would be considered super predators… but nope… not with the war drugs
“While the United States represents about 4.4 percent of the world’s population, it houses around 22 percent of the world’s prisoners. Corrections (which includes prisons, jails, probation, and parole) cost around $74 billion in 2007 according to the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics.”
